This week, Microscan lighting engineer Brian Thompson introduced you to Microscan’s mounting brackets for our new Smart Series Ring and Smart Series DOAL lights. Today, I would like to offer a quick tip for choosing hardware for the C-Mount QX Hawk and GigE Camera brackets.

As Brian pointed out in his blog, the C-Mount QX Hawk and GigE Camera brackets both use a 20mm X 20mm off-the-shelf extrusion as the core of the bracket system. While Microscan provides the necessary items for a basic installation, one of the major advantages of this design is the vast array of specialized mounting hardware available for the rail, which allows for all kinds of custom mounting options.

When choosing specialized hardware for this rail, however, you should keep in mind that there are a few different manufacturers of this type of rail system and the hardware is manufacturer-specific. Microscan uses a company called 80/20 Inc. to provide the rail in our bracket systems. If you are going with the standard rail provided for the C-Mount QX Hawk or GigE Camera bracket system, the hardware provided by 80/20 Inc. will be the best match for your custom mounting solution.
