Dept. of Defense (DoD) and Item Unique Identification (IUID)

The US Department of Defense has established the IUID program as a method to identify its tangible assets.

DoD suppliers are required to encode the IUID data into a Data Matrix symbol and directly apply it to specific tangible items to help facilitate item tracking in DoD business systems. The data is also used for management, financial, accountability, and asset management purposes.

From tracking ammunition, to mechanical parts and large items, Microscan is at the forefront of developing products to meet the DoD requirements. For more information about DoD iniatives for data tracking and Microscan's IUID reading solutions, please visit www.dod-iuid.com.

Common readers applied include Data Matrix verifiers, and Quadrus fixed-mount and handled imagers.
